Identity chair proposal

I entered a competition to design official outdoor seating for the municipality of Frederiksberg in Copenhagen. The design had to be anchored in the unique vibe of the borough, be durable and cost-efficient and conducive to social interaction.

My material choice was cork and oak as a nod to the very green profile of the neighbourhood. These materials are also very sustainable,  patina really beautifully and are inexpensive. The design itself draws on the heritage of classic Danish mid-century furniture in the back rest, while the spherical base gives it a modern twist with its simplicity and modular function. 

 

The design ended up taking 4th place.
